Corel Painter vs Photoshop: Digital Painting Comparison (part 1)
You can draw digital painting in both Corel Painter and Photoshop, depending on how you want to work, how much time you are willing to spend on additional study of the capabilities of a particular program. Personally, I could not refuse either Corel Painter or Photoshop!
As a professional digital artist, I use Corel Painter for drawing and graphics, as well as Adobe Photoshop for retouching photos, correcting images and creating compositions.
In my opinion, the process of creating graphics in Adobe Photoshop is more visualization, while with Corel Painter you will get more experience in natural painting:

Step 1: Convert Background Layer To Smart Object
In the Layers palette we see the image on the background layer:
